Per Theater Chart: In the Name of the Per Theater Chart

May 27, 2015

When Marnie Was There

In the Name of my Daughter rose to the first place on the per theater chart with an average of $20,069 in four theaters. I'll See You in My Dreams saw its theater count expand to 26 while its average was mostly flat down to $14,593. The best new release was When Marnie Was There, which earned an average of $13,695 in two theaters. This is great for an animated film in limited release.

The were not a lot of other new limited releases that we have numbers for. Tanu Weds Manu Returns opened with more than $1 million in a 136 theaters for an average of $7,401. Chocolate City also did well with an average of $6,589 in 15 theaters. The Farewell Party was well back with an average of $3,808 in two theaters, while Sunshine Superman was close behind with an average of $2,997 in three. Love at First Fight barely avoided the Mendoza Line with an average of $2,139 in two theaters. Aloft was right behind with an average of $1,058, also in two theaters.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple of Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • The Salt of the Earth crossed the $1 million mark since this time last week. This will be the last milestone it will reach.
  • Tanu Weds Manu Returns opened with just over $1 million, so obviously it also reached the $1 million milestone.
  • Far from the Madding Crowd reached $3 million before the weekend and topped $4 million and $5 million over the weekend.
  • Woman in Gold became the first limited release of 2015 to get to $30 million. It is currently ahead of Hot Pursuit's running tally and could catch up to Chappie.
