The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2 remained in first place with $62.0 million in 93 markets for totals of $242.4 million internationally and $440.9 million worldwide. The film's only major market opening came from Spain where it had to settle for second place with a total opening of $4.52 million on 449 screens. Its biggest market overall is the U.K. where it pulled in $6.78 million in 579 theaters over the weekend for a total of $28.88 million after two weeks of release. At this pace, the film will finish with between $600 million and $700 million, which is amazing, but below average for the Hunger Games franchise.

The Martian was next with $51.35 million in 19 markets over the weekend for totals of $326.5 million internationally and $545.0 million worldwide. Almost all of its weekend haul came from China where it earned first place with $49.07 million during its 5-day debut.

Spectre slipped to third place with $30.4 million in 94 markets for totals of $573.5 million internationally and $749.6 million worldwide. It reached $750 million worldwide on Monday, which is an amazing milestone. $800 million is guaranteed. $900 million is probably asking too much.

The Good Dinosaur opened in fourth place with $28.7 million in 40 markets. This isn't particularly good, but it isn't bad either. It is a solid opening. Its biggest opening came from the U.K. where it pulled in $4.37 million in 520 theaters, earning second place in the process. This is equivalent to a $20 million to $25 million opening here. It only managed third place in France with $3.26 million on 644 screens and in Germany with $1.30 million on 840. On the other hand, the film earned first place in Russia ($2.17 million on 1,744) and Argentina ($2.13 million on 246).

Our Times was in a distance fifth place with $13.0 million over the weekend for a total of $66.66 million after 11 days of release.

Victor Frankenstein entered the top ten for the first time with $10.0 million in 34 markets over the weekend for a two-week total of $24.0 million. This is better than it has done domestically. ... This is twice as much as it will earn domestically in total. However, it is not enough to be considered a financial success. Its biggest market was Russia where it earned third place with $1.88 million on 1,277 screens.

Inside Men remained in first place in its native South Korea $8.15 million on 1,129 screens over the weekend for a two-week total of $24.72 million.

Bridge Of Spies entered the international top ten for the first time with $7.0 million in 45 markets over the weekend for a total of $27.6 million. It nearly has $100 million globally, but it will need about $50 million more to break even any time soon. This includes a fourth place, $2.51 million opening on 531 screens in the U.K.

The Vanished Murderer opened in third place in China and ninth place internationally with $6.33 million.

Spanish Affair 2 remained in first place in Spain with $5.7 million on 394 screens over the weekend for a two-week total of $17.50 million.
