International Box Office: The Last Jedi Two-Day Total hits $60.8 million

December 15, 2017

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opened in another 34 markets on Thursday, helping it reach $60.8 million internationally after just two days of release. At the same point in its run, The Force Awakens had $72.7 million, while Rogue One had $37 million. The Last Jedi is slightly closer to the high end rather than the low end, but not by enough that we need to adjust our prediction.

As for individual markets, The Last Jedi earned $10.2 million in the U.K., which is the biggest opening day of the year and the third-best opening day of all time, behind The Force Awakens and Spectre. It had the second-biggest opening in Germany, with $6.1 million, behind only The Force Awakens and earned the best opening day of the year in France with $6.0 million. Interestingly, the film had to settle for second place in South Korea with $896,000 on 1,107 screens, behind Steel Rain, which earned $1.68 million. Coincidentally, The Himalayas prevented The Force Awakens from earning first place in South Korea back in 2015.

The Last Jedi will debut in Japan and Spain tonight, while its doesn’t open in its final market, China, until January 5th.
