April 11, 2018

You Were Never Really Here

You Were Never Really Here was the clear winner on the theater average chart earning over $130,000 in just three theaters for an average of $44,276. This isn’t the best theater average for a film released in 2018, but it is in the top five. The overall number one film, A Quiet Place, was next with an average of $14,311. The final film in the $10,000 club is Lean on Pete, which earned an average of $11,744 in four theaters.

The best of the rest of the new limited releases was The Endless, which earned $9,083 in its one theater. Where is Kyra? also did well with $6,101, also in one theater. Pandas was playing in 33 theaters and earned an average of $4,816. Meanwhile, The Heart of Nuba was right behind with $4,016 in one theater. ACORN and the Firestorm was the final film we have numbers for. It managed $2,621 in a single theater.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a couple of Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Baaghi 2 hit $1 million over the weekend. However, Bollywood films tend to have short legs, so this is as far as it will go.
  • The Death of Stalin got to $4 million before the weekend and $5 million over the weekend. It will likely start losing theaters going forward, but it is not entirely done earning milestones.
  • Isle of Dogs managed to get all of the way to $6 million after just two weeks of release. It will keep expanding for the next couple of weeks.
