Theater Averages: Collette Collects First Place with $40,295

September 25, 2018

Collette

Colette earned first place on the theater average chart with an average of $40,295 in four theaters. The Sisters Brothers was in second place with an average of $28,894, also in four theaters. Nothing Like a Dame was very strong for a documentary with $14,777 in its lone theater. One could argue Garry Winogrand: All Things Are Photographable belongs in the $10,000 club, as it earned $9,538 in one theater over the weekend and $13,782 from Wednesday through Sunday.

The rest of the new limited releases were all playing in dozens of theaters, but none of them came close to the $10,000 club. The Great Battle did the best with an average of $4,133 in 30 theaters. Batti Gul Meter Chalu earned an average of $2,404 in 64 theaters. Love, Gilda was playing in 82 theaters, which was a lot for a documentary, so its average of $2,313 isn’t terrible.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Ya Veremos just got to $4 million over the weekend, but that’s as far as it will go.
  • The Wife also hit $4 million before the weekend and it was nearly at $5 million by the end of the weekend.
  • Leave No Trace made it to $6 million over the weekend, but that’s as far as it will go.
  • Searching did reach the $20 million mark before the weekend and should get to $25 million soon.
