How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World

How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World roared into first place on the international chart with $40.8 million in 40 markets for a still early international total of $85.5 million. It was buoyed by a quartet of major market openings, led by Mexico, where it earned first place with $7.56 million in 891 theaters. This is 20% more than the previous film in the franchise opened with in that market. It also opened in first place in the U.K. ($6.95 million in 556 theaters) and in Italy ($3.67 million in 467). On the other hand, it had to settle for third place in South Korea with $3.30 million on 971 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $4.61 million. The film opens in France and Germany this weekend, but doesn’t finish its box office run until August, when it finally opens in Japan.

Extreme Job rose to second place internationally thanks to its first place hold in South Korea. It added $19.77 million on 1,948 screens in its native market lifting its two-week total to $55.54 million.

Serial (Bad) Weddings 2 opened in first place in France and a couple of smaller markets earning $12.80 million.

Glass fell from first to fourth with $12.2 million in 54 markets over the weekend for a totals of $110.3 million internationally and $199.0 million worldwide. The film is coasting on holdovers and doesn’t have another release date until it opens in China. However, there still doesn’t appear to be a Chinese release date.

Green Book entered the top five for the first time with $11.9 million over the weekend for an international total of $25.5 million so far.
