Theater Averages: In Love with the Theater Average Chart

October 3, 2019

First Love

First Love was the only film in the $10,000 Club this weekend earning an average of $10,576 in two theaters.

The next best new limited release was Judy. That film earned an average of $6,313 in 461 theaters. Its opening weekend was nearly $3 million and enough for seventh place on the overall chart. Fritz Lang’s Indian Epic was next with $4,401 in one theater. There were also two films that missed the Mendoza Line, The Gliksmans and The Day Shall Come. The two films earned averages of $974 and $495, respectively; however, both films were playing on VOD, so their theatrical numbers are not important at all.

This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:

  • Promare got to $1 million in just its second weekend of release; however, most of that came from two days of special engagements, so it doesn’t have a great shot at $2 million.
  • Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice reached $2 million early in the weekend and has a real shot at getting to $3 million before long.
  • Judy opened with nearly $3 million, so obviously it got to the $2 million milestone in the process.
  • Brittany Runs a Marathon did get to $6 million as expected, but I don’t think it will go any further.
