Theater counts: The Bad Guys becomes this week’s widest release as Memory debuts

While we had three new wide releases debut last week, this week looks to be more subdued as only one wide release arrives in theaters. Liam Neeson is back in the action-thriller, Memory. The legendary actor has had a slew of action films as of late, with the latest feature making its theatrical entrance in 2,555 locations.
This week’s widest release, however, is The Bad Guys, which adds 33 theaters this week, arriving in 4,042 cinemas. Last week, the animated crime comedy positioned itself as the number one movie in its inaugural weekend by taking in nearly $24 million from just over 4,000 locations. The Bad Guys is the only film this week playing in over 4,000 theaters. Just behind are the recent box office toppers, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore in 3,962 locations, Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in 3,801 theaters and The Northman 3,284 movie houses.
While this week is a bit of a lull, next week should make up for it in spades as the highly anticipated Doctor-Strange in the Multiverse of Madness blasts into theaters. The latest Marvel film starring Benedict Cumberbatch, and co-starring an impressive array of Hollywood talent is set to arrive in an estimated 4,300 theaters.
