2017 Awards Season: SAG Nominations

The Screen Actors Guild were the third group to announce their nominations for this awards season. So far there have been three different films earning the most nominations. Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri picked up four nominations, which is extra impressive, as there are only six theatrical categories.

• Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri led the way with four nominations, including two in the Best Supporting Actor category. However, I think vote-splitting will cost either actor the chance to win.
• The Big Sick got two nods and I’m really glad it wasn’t shut out like it was at the Golden Globes. It is my favorite movie of the year and it isn’t getting the recognition I think it deserves.
• Speaking of the Golden Globes, the number of matches was at nearly 100% and in some categories, it was 100%. It looks like we are setting on the Awards Season favorites.
• On a side note, GLOW was in a three-way tie for top spot in the TV side of things with three nominations. It was my favorite new show of the year, so I’m really glad it was able to do so well. (The other two shows with four nods each were Stranger Things and Little Big Lies.)
