Synopsis

Still grieving the loss of her mother, spunky rebellious 14-year-old Becky is brought to a weekend getaway at a lake house by her father in an effort to try to reconnect. The trip immediately takes a turn for the worse when her father’s new girlfriend and her son show up as well. But tonight, this is the least of Becky's problems: a group of murderous convicts on the run, led by the merciless Dominick, suddenly invade the lake house. As the criminals take the family hostage, Becky, not daddy’s little girl anymore, decides to take matters into her own hands. Dominick and his gang think they are the predators, but in the eyes of Becky, she’s finally found her prey.

Weekend Wrap-Up: Followed Falls, Becky Still Bountiful

June 30th, 2020

Followed

There are no reported numbers for re-releases this week, so information was very limited on this weekend’s box office chart. Followed fell nearly 50% from its opening weekend, earning $77,609 in 41 theaters for a two-week total of $330,197. Becky was right behind with $72,776 in just 17 theaters for a total of $817,916 after four weeks of release. It was down just 13%, meaning if it can keep this up, it will be on pace for $1 million domestically. This would be great news for its distributor, Quiver, and indeed good news for the box office in general. Overall, however, the theatrical market is looking dismal, particularly with growing COVID-19 case counts around the country, many states reversing course on relaxing lockdowns, and movie theater chains delaying their reopenings. Weekend Wrap-Up: Dinosaurs Dominate the Box Office

June 23rd, 2020

Jurassic Park

According to reports by Deadline, Jurassic Park led the way on the weekend box office chart, just ahead of Jaws at $517,600 to $516,300. In fact, much of the top ten were catalog titles. A few more recent releases did generate some business though. More...

Theatrical Update: Invisible Man Reappears at the Box Office

June 16th, 2020

The Invisible Man

We still have very few distributors actually releasing box office numbers, so there’s no real change at the weekend box office chart compared to last week, when it comes to films with official numbers released. However, Deadline is reporting a top ten with The Invisible Man coming out on top with an estimated $383,000 over the weekend for a total of $67.8 million so far. This represents a 37% growth from last week. The film climbed ahead of Trolls World Tour, which dipped 9% to $276,000 over the weekend for a total of $3.6 million after ten weeks of release. More...

Weekend Wrap-Up: Was Universal Trolling Us?

June 9th, 2020

Trolls: World Tour

None of the major studios have been releasing box office numbers in recent weeks, so the weekend box office chart was dominated by those independent distributors that did, in particular IFC Films and IFC Midnight. However, Deadline is reporting that Universal had in fact been dominating the box office. In fact, Trolls World Tour has been leading the way every week since it was released two months ago, and earned $3.1 million, including $300,000 in 197 theaters this past weekend. The studio’s success doesn’t end there. More...

VOD Releases: Harley Quinn Goes Digital

June 4th, 2020

Harley Quinn: Season One

There are some high quality new releases on VOD this week, and several are worth checking out, including Harley Quinn, and Sound! Euphonium the Movie — Our Promise: A Brand New Day. The lack of major theatrical releases over the past couple of months is really beginning to be felt on the home market now, though, with most releases smaller independent films. More...
