DVD Rentals - Doubleheader for Game

February 11, 2008

The Game Plan repeated as champion on the rental charts this week with $8.45 million for the week and $18.67 million in total. Good Luck Chuck also held firm in second place with $6.90 million for the week and $27.72 million after three. Finally, Saw IV completed the holdover hat trick adding $6.77 million for the week for a two-week total of $14.96 million. The first new release to chart was The Invasion in fourth place with $6.21 million. Impressively, The Hunting Party rose to fifth place with $5.81 million for a total of $12.84 million.

King of California was the best of the rest scoring 10th place with $5.01 million compared to a theatrical run of less than $700,000. Daddy Day Camp placed 14th with opening week rentals of $4.10 million, which is well below its placing on the sales chart, which is not what I was expecting. Likewise, The Comebacks placed sixth on the sales chart but 16th on the rental chart with $3.58 million. Trade landed in 19th place with $2.87 million while the final new release to chart was Lake Placid 2, which opened in 29th place with $2.12 million.
