Thursday Night Previews: CIA Dunks on Drew

Sicario: Day of the Soldado

Sicario: Day of the Soldado earned $2 million during previews, which is better than expected. Granted, we’ve seen too many films open well in previews before settling down to Earth over the rest of the weekend, but I’m still optimistic after this start. It should beat our prediction and $20 million is within range. It does depend on the word-of-mouth, which if its reviews are any indication, should be good, but not great.

Uncle Drew started its box office run with $1.1 million, which is on the lower end of expectations, but still a solid start. Its reviews are mixed, but I think its target audience will like the movie a whole lot more than the critics did. We will find out when the CinemaScore is released, which we will talk about tomorrow.
