Weekend predictions: Bloodlines destined for big weekend

May 16, 2025

Final Destination: Bloodlines

Final Destination: Bloodlines is headed for an excellent opening weekend, with our model predicting it will breeze past the best opening weekend for the franchise, a record held by The Final Destination, AKA Final Destination 4, which clocked in with $27.4 million on its opening weekend back in 2009. Adjusted for ticket price inflation, that’s $41.3 million in today’s movie ticket dollars. Bloodlines stands a decent chance of topping that number too.

Here are the details on our prediction for Final Destination today…

Also opening this weekend, Hurry Up Tomorrow isn’t looking like a contender this weeknd, sorry, weekend…

Here’s what the model thinks the top 10 will look like.

Bloodlines is the clear favorite this weekend. Whether it can produce the best adjusted-for-inflation opening for the franchise remains to be seen, but it’s a definite possibility. If it can do that, and some of the returning films hold on well. Sinners is the big wildcard in that regard, with its return to IMAX/PLF screens likely to boost its earnings. It was down week-on-week just 28% yesterday, on the first day of its super-big-screen return. The model has it down just 17% for the weekend, which seems a shade optimistic, particularly with some new competition from Final Destination.

Overall, we have a shot at another $100-million weekend, although my intuition is that we’ll fall a little short.
