Theater Counts: The War With Grandpa opens in 2,250 theaters

After playing in 2,727 theaters last week, Tenet is still likely to be on, or near the top of this week’s list. But based on previous weeks reporting, we will not know an actual count until Sunday. 101 Studios is releasing The War With Grandpa starring Robert De Niro, which arrives in 2,250 theaters and is the only true new wide release of the week. Disney continues to re-release films ahead of Halloween and the Day of the Dead. After last week’s surprise success with Hocus Pocus, this week they are re-releasing 2017's Coco—the animated supernatural film set in the Mexican underworld—in 1,663 theaters. Other new films opening this week include Henchmen and The Wolf of Snow Hollow arriving in 181 and 112 theaters respectively.
