The Batman

For the third consecutive week the three widest releases are in the same order as the box office charts, with The Batman leading the pack, followed by Uncharted and Dog. Even with those three firmly in place on our list, a throng of fresh films hit theaters this week, including no less than four films launching in wide release, to give moviegoers plenty of options for entertainment.

After amassing an impressive $258 million in its first two weeks from 4,417 theaters, the Defender of Gotham drops to 4,302 locations this week, while still being the only film playing in over 4,000 theaters. As previously mentioned, Uncharted and Dog are still putting up solid theater counts, coming in with 3,700 and 3,307 locations respectively. Landing in the fourth spot this week is the latest from A24 in the horror film, X. The film is set to debut in an estimated 3,000 theaters, and follows a group of young filmmakers who set out to make an adult film in rural Texas. But when their reclusive, elderly hosts catch them in the act, the cast find themselves fighting for their lives.

Also opening in wide release this week is Jujutsu-Kaisen 0: The Movie. The Japanese dark fantasy feature looks to arrive in an estimated 2,500 locations. The Outfit is the latest from Focus Features and centers around an English tailor who makes clothes for a family of vicious gangsters. The crime drama directed by Graham Moore opens in 1,324 cinemas. Lastly, the supernatural horror film Umma arrives in theaters this week in the way of 805 locations. The film stars Sandra Oh and is helmed by Iris K. Shim, while produced by Sam Raimi.

New in limited release this week is Alice. The 1800s-set thriller starring Keke Palmer and Common debuts in 170 theaters. Palmer plays Alice, a Georgia slave who flees through the neighboring woods and stumbles onto the unfamiliar sight of a highway, soon discovering that the year is actually 1973. Also new in limited release is the Romanian horror film, Întregalde showing in one theater.

Looking ahead to next week we see the debut of the adventure-comedy film The Lost City, starring Sandra Bullock, Channing Tatum and Daniel Radcliffe. The film, directed by Adam Nee, follows a dissatisfied middle-aged author who is kidnapped by an eccentric billionaire who believes that the lost city in her new book is real and that she knows where it is. The Lost City is expected to launch in around 4,000 locations.

Note: Funimation and A24 counts are estimates from Box Office Pro.
