Thursday Night Previews: Overboard Overtakes Latin Lover (Plus Infinity War Update)

May 4, 2018

Overboard

Overboard opened with $675,000 during its previews last night. This is 50% higher than the $450,000 How to Be a Latin Lover managed during its previews. However, that film earned better reviews than Overboard is earning, so it likely won’t have as good legs. It should still top our $12 million prediction, barely. $13 million to $14 million is now more likely.

We don’t have numbers for Tully and Bad Samaritan.

Infinity War ended the week with $338.4 million. That’s not the record for a seven-day run, as The Force Awaken managed $390.86 million during its opening week. However, that film also had holidays to boost its weekday numbers, so that gives it an unfair advantage. Infinity War has the potential to reach $450 million by the end of the weekend. Internationally, the film has $566.7 million for a worldwide total of $905.1 million after just nine dates of release. It is already the sixth biggest hit in the MCU and it has a chance of hitting $1 billion by the end of business tonight.
